TELASTUDIOS

One person builds it, start to finish.

No account manager, no handoff, no team you never meet. You talk to the person writing the code, which is the same person who wrote the words and drew the layout.

TELA Studios is Liam Morrison. I design and build websites for local businesses, one project at a time, which keeps the number small and the standard where I want it.

This page is a statement of how the work goes rather than a pitch. If the approach suits you, get in touch at the bottom. If it doesn't, you've saved us both a call.

The site gets built before you pay

I've never understood asking someone to pay a deposit for a design they haven't seen. So I don't. I build a real, working site on a temporary address and send it to you. Not a mockup, not a wireframe, not a picture of a website. The actual thing, on your phone, clickable.

If you look at it and decide against it, that's the end of the matter and you owe nothing.

That arrangement only works because I ask enough questions first. What the business does in your own words. Who calls, and what they want to know before they'll book. Which jobs you'd rather stop being asked about. That last one saves more time than anything else on the site.

Writing is part of the job

The most common way these projects die is the designer sending a blank content form and waiting. Six weeks later nobody has written anything, because writing about your own business is genuinely difficult and you have actual work to do.

So I write it. You tell me about the business once, I draft the pages, and you correct what I've got wrong. Correcting is quick. Starting from nothing is not.

Built by hand, and it stays fast

No themes, no page builders, no stack of plugins that needs feeding and updating. Hand-written HTML and CSS, which is why these sites load quickly on a phone with one bar of signal, and why they'll still load quickly in three years without anyone maintaining them.

Seeing the finished work

Case studies for completed projects live on the studio's main site, each with the reasoning behind what was built. Read the case studies

If that sounds right

Describe the business and what's wrong with how it shows up online. Rough detail is better than a tidy summary.

That's arrived.

I read enquiries myself, so the reply comes from me rather than an autoresponder. Usually within a business day.
